A vintage marked by an ideal winter for grape drying: low temperatures, steady ventilation, and very few foggy days. These conditions ensured excellent aromatic concentration, resulting in wines of remarkable balance and quality.
Amarone Bosan was born from Corvina Veronese, Corvinone grapes and a small part of Rondinella, coming from a single vineyard in Marano di Valpolicella, with calcareous and volcanic soil.
After the traditional “Appassimento”, the 3-year ageing of our Bosan Riserva 2016 begins in French barriques, followed by at least 12 months of bottle ageing.
The vintage was defined by a warm and almost completely dry winter. Conditions shifted in April, introducing a cold and rainy period that lasted until mid-May. The summer saw normal thunderstorms, with a single, localized hailstorm event. The finish, however, was ideal: September was stable, warm, and well-ventilated, ensuring a favorable conclusion to the growing cycle.
Bosan 2016 displays a deep garnet color. The nose is rich with jam, black cherry, plum, and dark chocolate, underpinned by subtle notes of black truffle and liquorice. The palate is full-bodied, enveloping, and soft, effectively balancing the alcohol content. It concludes with a long and complex finish.

climate trend
The 2015/2016 Winter was warmer than average across all growing areas, with almost no precipitation except for a brief snowfall. Early April brought a cold, rainy spell that lasted until mid-May. Typical summer storms occurred within the seasonal norm, with only one localized hail event in the higher Valpolicella hills. September brought stable weather with some heavy rain, but warm temperatures and good ventilation allowed for a favorable end to the growing season.
vinification & maturation
Grapes selected for Amarone Bosan are picked 1-2 weeks earlier than Valpolicella Classico’s. The best bunches are arranged in a single layer inside small crates. Following drying inside the large ‘fruttai’ rooms, where grapes lose 30% of their weight, maceration lasts for 20 days. After removing the lees, malolactic fermentation in stainless steel follows, completed by 3 years of French barrique ageing and 12 months of bottle ageing.

The vineyard
Bosan wines are born from a single vineyard located nearby the town of Marano di Valpolicella, at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level.
This area, remarked by terraced vineyards trained in the ‘pergola Veronese’ system, features a limestone soil of volcanic origin and ideal exposure.
All these elements come together to create dynamic, elegant, and distinctive wines, such as the Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG Bosan.

From Marano di Valpolicella comes a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes, left on the vines to mature for a longer-than-average period. The wine undergoes maceration on the skins to extract their full potential and concludes with ageing in steel tanks and bottles.
