Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC Bosan 2020

Awards

Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC Bosan 2020

A blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella from Marano di Valpolicella that undergoes the classic Ripasso process. It then matures in French oak barrels for around 12 months, followed by a 6-month blending in oak barrels before finishing with bottle ageing (8 months).

climate trend

Autumn was cold, with abundant snowfall, followed by a mild and dry winter, with few particularly cold days and an adequate level of humidity. Spring recorded very low temperatures, especially in March. Summer was marked by heat and significant temperature fluctuations, with a peak of high temperatures at the end of July and an intense hailstorm at the end of August.

vinification & maturation

The ripasso process lasts about 15 days, enhancing the wine’s color, structure, aromas, and tannins, while also increasing the alcohol content compared to the base wine. After the final racking in March and the malolactic fermentation, the wine undergoes aging for approximately 18 months in French oak barrels. The ageing process is completed in bottle for a further 8 months.

The vineyard

Bosan wines are born from a single vineyard located nearby the town of Marano di Valpolicella, at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level.

This area, remarked by terraced vineyards trained in the ‘pergola Veronese’ system, features a limestone soil of volcanic origin and ideal exposure.
All these elements come together to create dynamic, elegant, and distinctive wines, such as the Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG Bosan.
