Amarone Bosan Tre Bicchieri World Tour: from Valpolicella to the world with Gambero Rosso

Amarone Bosan Tre Bicchieri World Tour: Cesari’s vertical tasting of historic vintages travels the world.
Receiving the Tre Bicchieri award from Gambero Rosso is never a final destination; rather, it is a definitive confirmation of a qualitative journey that deserves to be shared on the world’s most influential stages. For Cesari, awarding the highest honors to the Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva Bosan 2016 marked the beginning of an ambitious journey across Asia and North America, joining the Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri World Tour.
From Asian metropolises to the vibrant centers of Manhattan and Toronto, Amarone Bosan acted as the primary ambassador for what we define as our Contemporary Soul: a perfect equilibrium between the rigor of tradition and a modern winemaking vision capable of engaging the palates of international connoisseurs.
Tokyo: the elegance of Bosan at the Ritz-Carlton
The tour launched under the bright lights of Tokyo, a market that has long rewarded precision and stylistic elegance. Within the sophisticated setting of the Ritz-Carlton, Cesari presented Amarone Bosan to an audience of Japanese professionals, critics, and collectors.
The centerpiece of the event was the exclusive Masterclass titled “Legacy in a Glass.” Here, Amarone Bosan was not merely tasted but meticulously analyzed through its temporal evolution. Starting with the award-winning 2016 vintage, the flight moved through historical vintages including 2015, 2006, 2003, 2001, and 2000. This vertical tasting proved how the character of Bosan remains intact and recognizable despite the passage of decades, confirming its extraordinary aging potential and the resilience of the fruit. The Japanese market, known for its deep appreciation of fine Italian reds, responded with great enthusiasm to the wine’s structural harmony.

The Asian Market: navigating Hong Kong, Chengdu, and Shanghai
Following the success in Japan, the tour proceeded toward the new frontiers of wine in China. Each stop represented both a challenge and an opportunity to narrate the complexity of the Valpolicella territory through a glass of Amarone.
- Hong Kong and Chengdu: In early November, Bosan reached the 46th floor of Hong Kong’s Central Plaza and the exclusive Xu’s Cuisine in Chengdu. In these settings, the Amarone Riserva was praised for its gastronomic versatility, showing an ability to pair with complex, spice-forward cuisines while maintaining a deep, lingering palate that never feels heavy or over-extracted.
- Shanghai: At the Regent Shanghai On The Bund, Cesari reaffirmed its prominent position among the great names of Italian winemaking. The “Legacy in a Glass” Masterclass replicated the success seen in Tokyo, allowing local professionals to grasp the stylistic consistency of Bosan—a wine that manages to be iconic without sacrificing freshness or drinkability.
New York and Toronto: The North American leg of the tour
The journey did not stop in the East.
- Amarone Bosan 2016 then crossed the Atlantic to arrive in New York City. On March 5th, the Metropolitan Pavilion hosted a key leg of the Tre Bicchieri World Tour, an essential event for the North American market where interest in high-end Valpolicella wines continues to grow.
- Finally, the most recent stage of the tour brought Bosan to Canada on April 29th. At the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex in Toronto, a sold-out Masterclass was held for LCBO staff, trade operators, restaurant partners, and the press. The session was led by Giuseppe Carrus – editor of the Gambero Rosso wine guide – and featured six historical vintages of Amarone Bosan. The feedback from Canadian professionals highlighted the wine’s ability to evolve, showcasing how the 2016 vintage carries the torch of a long-standing tradition of excellence.
Amarone Bosan: an icon with a Contemporary Soul
The success encountered during these global stops lies in Cesari’s ability to interpret Amarone with a contemporary sensibility—both in Italy and abroad. We do not seek power for its own sake; instead, we strive for aromatic precision, persistence, and a structural balance that allows the wine to evolve with grace.
Bosan is the result of daily choices made in the vineyard and the cellar, where respect for historical heritage meets technical innovation. We thank everyone who tasted with us during this journey between 2025 and 2026.
