Our Amarone della Valpolicella Cesari wines receive two major new accolades.

The international wine scene once again rewards the commitment, stylistic vision, and qualitative journey we pursue with our wines, from the vineyard to the cellar. We are proud to share two extraordinary new milestones that confirm the excellence and global standing of our Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico Riserva Bosan 2016 e l’Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico 2021, quest’ultimo nel segno di una ricorrenza storica memorabile.

For our winery, these accolades are much more than mere numbers: they are milestones on a path that seamlessly blends a deep reverence for the Valpolicella terroir with our Contemporary Soul.

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Bosan 2016: 94 Points from Wine Spectator

The first major success comes from one of the most influential authorities in global wine journalism: Wine Spectator, which has awarded 94 points to our Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Bosan 2016.

Already decorated with Gambero Rosso’s Tre Bicchieri and Bibenda’s Cinque Grappoli, the 2016 vintage continues to leave its mark, bringing our Team the immense satisfaction of achieving the highest score ever awarded to a Cesari wine.

This exceptional milestone validates the quality-driven trajectory that Gerardo Cesari has pursued for decades through the Bosan project – the soul of a single vineyard located in Marano, on the highest slopes of Valpolicella Classica. As one of the most highly suited areas for producing this historic wine, it boasts ideal exposure, excellent soils, and a unique microclimate. This environment allows our Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes to reach perfect ripeness before beginning their journey into the Cesari’s Grape Drying Loft.

In the glass, the 2016 vintage reveals a deep garnet hue. The nose opens with rich notes of fruit preserve, black cherry, plum, and dark chocolate, woven with subtle hints of black truffle and licorice. On the palate, it is full-bodied, enveloping, and velvety, beautifully balancing its alcohol content. The finish is long, complex, and memorable.

The 50th Harvest of Cesari Amarone della Valpolicella: 91 Points from James Suckling Between History and Future

The second wonderful announcement hits close to the very heart of our estate’s identity. The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Cesari DOCG 2021 has earned an excellent 91-point score from the renowned critic James Suckling.

The significance of this recognition is twofold. With the 2021 vintage, we are celebrating the 50th harvest of our iconic Amarone Classico. Half a century of history—a journey that began as one of the first Amarone wines ever exported to the United States, and has continued through the decades with numerous legendary vintages and the evolution of our iconic frosted bottle design.

Even in its most classic interpretation, the Cesari Amarone della Valpolicella 2021 proudly carries forward our winery’s contemporary style. It is a dynamic, multi-layered wine featuring an elegant structure, silky tannins, and a remarkably long, balanced finish.

A Shared Global Dedication

The scores awarded by Wine Spectator and JamesSuckling.com are certainly a proud milestone, but they also serve as an inspiration to keep elevating our craft, both in the vineyard rows and in the cellar. We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to the entire Gerardo Cesari Team, whose daily passion and hard work make these achievements possible.

Most importantly, our thanks go out to those who continue to choose Cesari Amarone della Valpolicella—and all our wines—across the globe.
